Why We Care
The tracks are an important part of our history and the history of the Earth. They are globally significant, but also important for the State of Texas, since they were discovered in the Paluxy River. They are scientifically significant, but also an important tool for science education.
- The sauropod tracks are part of the first scientifically documented wide-gauge sauropod trackway, and possibly made by the official State Dinosaur of Texas.
- They indicate to scientists that a theropod may have been stalking the sauropod.
- These tracks, and others in the Paluxy River, show that sauropods walked on all four legs and roamed the area in a group.
